smoking

Smoking is one of the most common manifestations of recreational drug use. Today, tobacco smoking is one of the most common forms of smoking, with more than a billion people practicing it in most human societies. Less common forms of smoking include marijuana and opium smoking. Most drugs that are smoked are considered addictive. Some substances are classified as solid drugs, such as heroin and cocaine solid. They are materials of limited use as they are not commercially available.

History of smoking

The history of smoking dates back to 5,000 BC, and has been found in many different cultures around the world. Smoking used to be a part of religious ceremonies. Such as making offerings to the gods, ritual purification, or to enable shamans and priests to change their minds for purposes of divination and spiritual enlightenment. The European exploration and conquest of the Americas came, and tobacco smoking spread rapidly throughout the world. In regions such as India and sub-Saharan Africa, tobacco smoking has merged with common smoking practices in these countries, of which cannabis is the most common. In Europe, smoking provided a new social activity and a previously unknown form of drug abuse.
The ways of understanding smoking varied over time and varied from one place to another, in terms of being sacred or obscene, sophisticated or vulgar, a general medicine – an antidote – or a health hazard. In recent times, and mainly in industrialized western countries, smoking has emerged as a decisively negative practice. At present, medical studies have proven that smoking is one of the main causes of many diseases such as: lung cancer, heart attacks, and it can also cause birth defects. The proven health risks of smoking have led to many countries imposing high taxes on tobacco products, in addition to annual anti-smoking campaigns in an attempt to curb tobacco smoking.

The health effects of smoking

The health effects of smoking are the conditions, mechanisms and factors resulting from tobacco consumption on human health. Epidemiological research has focused in particular on tobacco smoking, which has been studied more widely than any other form of consumption. In the twentieth century, 100 million people died as a result of smoking, and thus smoking is the largest cause of death in the world. Tobacco consumption usually leads to heart disease, gum disease, and lung disease and is a significant risk factor for heart attacks, strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cancer (especially lung, larynx, and pancreas). As well as lead to diseases in the peripheral blood vessels and high pressure. The effect depends on the number of years the smoker has been smoking and the amount of tobacco. Also, environmental smoking has been found to cause harm to the health of inhalers of all ages. Cigarettes sold in developing countries tend to have a higher amount of tar and are less filterable. This increases sensitivity to tobacco-related diseases in these areas.

Cigarette components:

There is no doubt that the methods of smoking are multiple, but the method that is considered more common is the cigarette, but have you ever asked yourself what are the components of that cigarette that cause all these diseases:
Cigarettes contain more than 600 ingredients and substances, and when burned, they produce more than 7,000 chemicals. And according to research published in the famous American Lung Association.
The number of substances that are produced from smoking a cigarette and cause cancer is more than 69, in addition to the toxic chemicals.
Such ingredients are also found in tobacco cigars, hookah pipes, but the level of carcinogens present in cigars is in greater quantities.
Perhaps this is the reason why the death rate from smoking harms in the United States is 3 times the percentage of people who never smoked.

The harmful effects of smoking on human health:

As we mentioned, the harmful effects of smoking do not affect only one of your organs, but the effect extends to:
Respiratory system.
The circulatory system and the heart.
Pregnant mother and fetus.
Sexual life and the respiratory system.
Digestive.
Skin, hair, and nails.
The central nervous system.
